On April 15th, Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR) along with partners from the Schatz Energy Research Center hosted a tour of BLR’s energy system. The participants in this tour group included representatives of several Tribes, faculty from UC Davis, a Department of Energy Fellow, and more. The tour highlighted BLR’s microgrid technologies and gave an opportunity for the group to glimpse into the Tribal Energy Resilience and Sovereignty (TERAS) project. The TERAS will aim to provide BLR with increased capacity and energy sovereignty. Many of the visitors in the tour group are hoping to commission microgrids onto their own Tribal lands and were very interested in learning from BLR’s experiences in the process. After concluding the tour of BLR’s microgrid, the tour group was able to visit the Arcata airport microgrid, which was largely informed by BLR’s systems.
