On Thursday, March 26th, the Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR) Office of Emergency Services (OES) attended a Tsunami Week public forum discussion at the Humboldt Grange. This event was focused on reflection following the recent flooding incidents in King Salmon, offering community members a space to ask questions, connect with emergency management & weather professionals and strengthen their understanding of flood and tsunami preparedness. The event included presentations from Ryan Aylward of the National Weather Service, Laurie Richmond of Cal Poly Humboldt, and Nick Bown-Crawford of COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disasters). BLR OES was glad to table at this event, sharing resources and training opportunities for individuals who were interested in expanding their knowledge of disaster preparedness while building connections with outside organizations.
