Sensor Hosting

SAFE Air for
Everyone

We are looking for individuals and organizations who can host public sensors on the PurpleAir network.

Benefits: One of the many benefits of air quality monitoring is the ability to assess real-time air quality conditions. This allows individuals and families to consider and assess their own appropriate smoke or particulate exposure levels, and whether or not to stay indoors or seek better air.

What is needed: Hosting a sensor means that you can see the air quality in your area in real time. The sensor is small and easy to install, but it needs two things: a wifi connection and a power outlet. The wifi connection allows the sensor to send the data to the network, so that you can see it on a map. The power outlet provides electricity to the sensor, which uses very little energy (about $2 per year).

How to become a host: If you are interested in hosting a sensor, or if you have any questions, please contact us by email or phone. We will send you a registered sensor with detailed instructions on the easy installation process. All you’ll need to do is plug it in, connect to your wifi, and just like that, you’ll be contributing to the community-built air quality network.
