Blue Lake Rancheria Wildland Fire Captain

Job Description: Under direction of the Battalion Chief, this position will assist in all aspects of fire management functions, including, preparedness, suppression, fuels management, prevention, detection, project management and administration. This is a uniformed position.

Fuels Crew Technician
Location: Blue Lake Rancheria – Blue Lake, CA
Reports to: Ethnobotany and Cultural Stewardship Manager
Job Description: The Blue Lake Rancheria Environmental Department seeks an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join the Good Fire Healing Coalition (GFHC) team. The Fuels Crew technician will support the BLR GFHC project and landscape stewardship projects, funded by the CalFire Tribal Wildfire Resilience and EPA Performance Partnership grants. The role will support the operations of the team, engaged in planning and implementing cultural fire projects on Blue Lake Rancheria lands; the role will also support forest inventory and solid waste reduction activities. Fuels crew specialists will be actively engaged on restoring lands through forest thinning, planting, and burning projects throughout BLR Tribal lands. Previous coursework in NAS, and/or work and relationship with Tribal communities is preferred. The hourly commitment is up to 29 hours per week for a seasonal position, May through November 2026. The number of hours worked can vary depending on the individual and tasks of the project team.
