Blue Lake Rancheria Office of Emergency Services hosts CERT training in Weitchpec

Both the Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR) and Yurok Tribe Offices of Emergency Services collaborated to complete the first of three Tribally coordinated Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trainings this past weekend. Community members came together to learn the basics of disaster response, basics of disaster medical operations and psychology, fire safety, and more. These CERT trainings are great opportunities for individuals to learn basic preparedness skills, and build confidence in knowing where they can fit in during a disaster. Led by Senior Emergency Manager and Director of the Yurok Tribe’s Office of Emergency Services, Amos Pole brings a wealth of knowledge, stewardship, and experience to these courses, highlighting the unique challenges faced by Humboldt’s rural residents while simultaneously providing community-centered preparedness information and skills.
