On Wednesday, June 18th, 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 participated in the 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝘂𝗻 for Special Olympics in Old Town Eureka, along with other police departments across Humboldt County. Every year, Special Olympics supporters are paired with law enforcement personnel as they carry the Flame of Hope through areas of California.
This event is part of a fundraising effort for Special Olympics and helps to raise awareness in different communities. The movement is comprised of more than 110,000 law enforcement personnel internationally who choose Special Olympics as their charity of choice. In Northern California alone, over 20 million dollars have been raised from the Torch Run. 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 is grateful for the opportunity to play such an impactful role in our community.
The Northern California section of the Torch Run began in Siskiyou County, before moving towards Shasta and Del Norte on the way to Humboldt. After Humboldt, the torch will be on route to Sacramento for a Capital Ceremony and on its way to the final destination: This year’s Special Olympics in Santa Clara!
