


𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 (𝗕𝗟𝗥) was recently represented in Washington D.C. during 𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬. This was an opportunity for the Tribe to meet with policymakers, scientists, managers, and agency staff on ocean policy issues.
𝗕𝗟𝗥 is a member of the 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, which convenes Tribal, State, and Federal governments on current and future ocean uses in support of healthy, resilient ocean ecosystems and communities that thrive on resources from these waters.
𝗬𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗬𝗿𝗮𝗱, 𝗕𝗟𝗥 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵, traveled to D.C. with a delegation of 20 to 25 other West Coast Tribal leaders and representatives as part of the 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘖𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘶𝘴. 𝗬𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 was a 2023-24 West Coast Ocean Alliance fellow at 𝗕𝗟𝗥 and has helped the Tribe stay engaged in regional ocean and coastal management. Uplifting the stories and priorities of Tribes all along the West Coast, the 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘤𝘶𝘴 sought conversations with federal agencies and representatives on ocean and coastal ecosystem health.
𝗬𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 shared information about 𝗕𝗟𝗥 environmental and sustainability efforts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in order to foster collaboration and work together to create a more sustainable future for our region.
