





On 1/22/26, the Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR) Office of Emergency Services (OES) hosted a FEMA funded MGT-415 Disaster Recovery in Rural Communities training held by the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC). This training brought in individuals from the Trinidad Rancheria, the Yurok Tribe, Humboldt Area Foundation, Public Works, local volunteer organizations, and Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte Counties. In smaller, rural communities, disaster recovery can present unique challenges, and these communities could suffer disproportionately when long-term recovery plans aren’t in place. Rural areas need disaster recovery planning because they have large obstacles to overcome, and often lack infrastructure and resources needed to support a long-term recovery from a major disaster. The class was well-attended, bringing in individuals from (Insert agencies here, waiting on info to fill in). This course is one of the many free classes that the BLR OES hosts throughout the year, taking initiative to help the general community understand emergency response and how to stay safe during an emergency scenario.
