This week at the ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐๐), Blue Lake Rancheriaโs ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ (๐๐๐) offered their final ๐๐๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฆ (๐๐๐๐) Training for local students for this year. Emergency Manager ๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฐ ๐๐จ๐ ๐๐ซ, OES Programs Assistant ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ง๐๐ฒ, and OES Outreach Coordinator ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ข๐ฌ led the training session, giving students some hands-on lessons on how to respond to an emergency unfolding in front of them in a safe and effective manner.
Over the course of six weeks, instructor-led and trained students were able to learn a lot of valuable information, including:
โข Hazard mitigation and risk identification in their immediate surroundings with emphasis on preparedness at home and school.
โข Introduction to ICS with focused application on teamwork, accountability, and working within diverse groups.
โข Fire science and safety concepts, including the fire triangle, types of fires and extinguishers, and PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) method instruction.
โข Introduction to scene safety, identifying stages of blood loss, and first aid concepts.
โข Stop the Bleed training, preparing participants to take action to save lives during medical emergencies.
โข Rescue carries and difficult extractions utilizing items in the home, furthering teamwork and communication concepts.
The Teen CERT training is part of our ongoing mission to build youth leadership and provide real-world preparedness education. We are proud to work alongside our community to ensure the youth are well-equipped, confident, and ready to help when it matters most.
