Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) Awareness Day
Blue Lake Rancheria stands in solidarity with other Tribal Nations, families, and advocates across the country to raise awareness, demand justice, and help end the ongoing crisis of violence against Indigenous people.
This day of remembrance began in 2017 to honor ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ๐, a 21-year-old citizen of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe whose life was tragically taken in 2013. Her story represents the heartbreaking reality faced by far too many Indigenous women and families.
โAwareness is just the beginning. Justice means confronting hard truths and working relentlessly to ensure Indigenous lives are valued and protected. Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department
โAs law enforcement, our responsibility goes beyond response. It requires vigilance, empathy, and a deep commitment to protecting Indigenous women and families. Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department
Today, we wear red to remember our stolen sisters and brothers, support the loved ones still searching, and call for lasting change. We also hold the memory of ๐ฆ๐๐น๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐ฒ๐น๐ in our hearts โ her life, taken too soon, continues to guide our call for justice and protection.
