Last week, Blue Lake Rancheria’s Emergency Manager, Andrew Bogar joined a panel discussion for Leadership Redwood Coast, focused on regional disaster preparedness and response.
Moderated by Nancy Olsen, CEO/President of the Greater Eureka Chamber of Commerce, the panel also included CAL FIRE Unit Chief Kurt McCrea (Humboldt, Del Norte, and Western Trinity counties), Rio Dell Mayor Debra Garnes, and Rio Dell City Manager Kyle Knopp.
The group reflected on lessons learned from the 2022–2023 earthquakes that severely impacted Rio Dell and the broader North Coast region—highlighting emergency coordination, recovery efforts, and the critical role of strong local partnerships in building more resilient communities.
