On 10/14/2025, the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Environmental Protection Agency coordinated a delivery of fresh produce to Blue Lake Rancheria (BLR) for the BLR Elders Food Program. This produce was delivered by and ordered through the North Coast Growers’ Association’s (NCGA) Harvest Hub, and was purchased through an extension of Blue Lake Rancheria’s Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Plan (LFPA). The NCGA Harvest Hub takes fresh produce from local farms across the county and aggregates them to be delivered to schools, restaurants, and Tribal communities. This ensures that the funds used to buy food goes back into the local economy, and keeps the North Coast regions food system strong and resilient.
Blue Lake Rancheria is proud to deliver meals every three weeks to Tribal Elders across Humboldt County, totaling over 60,000 meals delivered each year through the BLR Elders Food Program. All of these meals are prepared fresh, always using local ingredients sourced from the Daluviwi’ Community Garden here at BLR, or the NCGA Harvest Hub. Having produce delivered from outside of the area can take upwards of 7 days, which causes the produce to lose some nutritional value. Using fresh local produce ensures that the food getting delivered is nutrient-dense. BLR is committed to supporting the well-being of its community, and promoting healthy living and sustainability.
