Blue Lake Rancheria’s 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗞𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿, serves as a vital member of the regional Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) steering committee. CIT is a partnership between law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, government agencies, and community organizations working together to improve how our region responds to mental health crises.
This important collaboration helps ensure that those experiencing a mental health emergency receive compassionate, informed care—while keeping both individuals and first responders safe.
Chief Miller recently met with his CIT cohort, which trains local responders through two intensive 40-hour courses each year, reaching up to 80 professionals annually.
We’re grateful for Chief Miller’s leadership and the dedication of all involved in strengthening public safety and community wellness.
👏 We would also like to recognize and congratulate 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮 from the Eureka Police Department on receiving this year’s CIT Responder of the Year award! Her dedication to supporting individuals in crisis is a powerful example of community-centered public service.
We’re honored to be part of this vital work that prioritizes compassion, collaboration, and culturally informed care. These efforts help create safer, healthier communities by building trust, supporting those in crisis, and strengthening the partnerships that make lasting change possible.
