








This year for the back-to-school season, Running Strong for American Indian Youth has donated 393 backpacks full of school supplies for the year to the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Education Agency (BLR TEA). On Friday, 8/15, BLR TEA attended the Eureka City Schools Resource Fair at Zoe Barnum High School, where students were able to pick up these back-to-school backpacks. Eureka City Schools will also be delivering backpacks to any students who couldn’t make it out to the resource fair.
Out of the 393 back to school supply backpacks:
• 228 Were given to Eureka City Schools students.
• 93 Were given to Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria Students attending Fortuna and Loleta schools.
• 59 Were given to students in the Northern Humboldt Union High School District and their K-8 schools.
• 13 Were given to Blue Lake Rancheria and Blue Lake Elementary students.
In addition to the 393 backpacks donated by Running Strong for American Indian Youth, the BLR Modern Youth Internship Academies program has also provided 49 backpacks of school supplies to Non-Native youth in Eureka City Schools, making a grand total of 442 backpacks of school supplies that will have been given out throughout Humboldt County.
