Anita Huff

Tribal Administrator

Anita Huff serves as the Tribal Administrator of the Blue Lake Rancheria, bringing 30 years of leadership and service to the Tribe. Her career reflects a deep commitment to the Tribe’s mission, sovereignty, and community well-being.

Anita’s professional journey began in the mid-1990s, when she joined the Blue Lake Rancheria as a Utility and Agricultural Worker. In this foundational role, she supported community gardening efforts, delivered floral arrangements, assisted the Elders Program, and contributed to cultural and community events. Her hands-on service during this period helped build programs that are still vital to the Rancheria today.

In 1997, she was appointed Director of the Blue Lake Rancheria Elders Program, where she led the department for a decade. Under her leadership, the program expanded significantly—enhancing elder care services, organizing intergenerational activities, and strengthening partnerships with regional and state agencies. Her work during this time was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the US Department of Health and Human Services recognition for Outstanding Contributions to Title VI Programs Serving Our Elders, and the Area 1 Agency on Aging’s 2008 Senior Friends Award—both honoring her outstanding contributions to the well-being of Elders in the region.

In 2009, Anita became the Tribe’s Grants Manager, where she was instrumental in securing and managing funding for housing, education, environmental initiatives, and transportation programs. Her grant work supported the development of key Tribal departments and expanded services for Tribal citizens and community members.

In 2015, she took on the additional role of Emergency Manager, where she helped develop and lead the Tribe’s nationally recognized Resiliency Training & Innovation Center (RTIC). This initiative advanced regional emergency preparedness, climate adaptation training, and interagency response coordination, earning local and federal recognition.

In 2025, Anita was appointed Tribal Administrator, responsible for overseeing day-to-day government operations, supervising department directors, managing intergovernmental relationships, and supporting the continued advancement of Tribal sovereignty. Her collaborative leadership style and institutional knowledge have made her an invaluable asset to the Tribal Council and government staff.

Raised in and around the Blue Lake area, Anita’s connection to the community began in childhood. Her lived experience, professional dedication, and decades of service continue to guide her commitment to the Tribe’s future.
