Lost Coast Communications is the fastest growing broadcast media company in the North Coast, and operates three Humboldt County radio stations.

Founded to serve the unique local talent and community in Humboldt County, Lost Coast seeks to ensure diverse media coverage which reflects the distinctive nature of the community.

KHUM 104.3 and 104.7 FM
KSLG 94.1 FM “K-Slug”
KWPT 100.3 and 102.7 FM “The Point”

KHUM 104.3 and 104.7 FM

  • KHUM is the 2005 recipient of the National Association of Broadcasters “Friend In Need” humanitarian award!  This award, given to one television and one radio station in the United States, honors broadcasters for outstanding service in the face of natural disasters and other potentially life-threatening situations.  The KHUM team stepped in when several unexpected storms caught Humboldt County off guard between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2005.  On New Year’s Eve, the worst of the storms, with winds of 97 miles-per-hour blasted the County.  The majority of the County was without power, and the three main highways and major surface arterials were blocked with fallen trees.  KHUM's staff worked around the clock to keep the community informed and connected – to each other and with emergency services – which required some of the station’s DJs to broadcast live from their homes when there was no other alternative.  Lost Coast applauds this team for their outstanding service.
  • KHUM, “radio without the rules,” is a free-form AAA station launched in 1996, which stands out as an exception to the homogenous radio heard too often these days.  With everything from Motown Mondays to bluegrass, funk, blues, rock-and-roll, and folk, KHUM is keeping the HUM in Humboldt County. KHUM’s mix of music and community news is created specifically for Humboldt County lifestyles and attitudes, and is 100% locally produced.
  • KHUM is 100% local and proud of it!  We feel it is important to actively participate in our community’s activities.  We sponsor and support most of Humboldt County’s many activities, festivals and happenings.  We cover everything of interest from the World Championship Kinetic Sculpture Race to local political races.  Plus we constantly put a spotlight on issues in our community that need attention.  That means you can get a good peek in at one of the most interesting and dynamic communities found anywhere.  And that’s why we’ve chosen Humboldt as our home.  We are continually looking for ways we can help make Humboldt County better.  After all, we all live here too.
  • And, we may be local, but you can listen to us anywhere via the internet at www.khum.com

KSLG 94.1 FM

  • “K-Slug.” In five short years, 94.1 KSLG has established itself as a dominant station in the adult radio market.  Featuring a unique mix of modern rock designed to attract a broad audience, K-Slug has captured the ear of area residents, over 7,000 students at Humboldt State University and 3,600 students at the College of the Redwoods.  We offer alternative rock for the young and young at heart.
  • The following is an excerpt of a review of KSLG from the North Coast Journal.  “If you are 18-34 years old and feel like no radio station in Humboldt County suits your musical preference, twist your dial to 94.1 FM, KSLG-FM – a.k.a. K-Slug….Music Director Mike Dronkers describes the new format as ‘kind of alternative rock. It's a hybrid because the actual genre called `alternative' has become quite the opposite. We hesitate to use the term. But if you look on the alternative charts, that's the kind of bands we'll be playing.’
  • KSLG is 100% locally-programmed. We feature local bands, and if you want to know what is happening, listen to the Slug Festivities Guide and the Slug Scene to find out where the music is going to be.

KWPT 100.3 and 102.7 FM

  • "The Best Rock & Roll of All Time, All The Time" Live and local, the Point is a familiar blend of classic rock and the perfect station for stores and businesses, who keep it on all day long. Think of it as musical comfort food. The Point offers classic artists such as The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, and the Doobie Brothers, along with the Beatles and other favorites. Launched less than three years ago, The Point is now rated #1 for adults 25-54 by Arbitron! The Point is 100% locally programmed with the best music of 1965-1985. The Point's target audience is adults 35-64, and because good rock and roll is timeless, the Point is also surprisingly popular with younger generations.
